10 on 10: February 2016

Ten pictures on the tenth of the month,
capturing the beauty of everyday life.

And here are ten things I know.
Grocery store flowers on a random Tuesday can mean just as much, if not more than, delivered bouquets on a Hallmark holiday.

Family visits are good for the soul and pass by entirely too quickly. I love having our house full of love and laughter.

The weather here has been the perfect cure for my normal February doldrums. Yes, its cold and windy, but every day has presented clear skies and wide open spaces. I'm not sure if this is normal, but I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

Listening to a podcast on your daily long walk makes it that much more enjoyable.  My favorites right now are Coffee with Chris Caine, Elevation Church, This American Life, and The Dave Ramsey Show. (includes links to download. You'll need to download the free podcast app on your phone)

Speaking of, Elevation Worship's new album, Here as in Heaven, is profound, life-breathing, encouraging, and overall amazing. We are so fortunate to be ministered through this church and its people, even from miles and miles away.

A sweet friend gave me this mug as a going away gift, and I drink from it almost every morning. It's a joy to think about all my friends all around the globe and to pray for them by name.

I recently purchased a FitBit Charge on amazing sale, and am obsessed with getting my 10,000 steps a day. Ha! It's encouraged me to get out more and be active despite the cold (and let's be honest, despite my tendency to sit under a blanket and read). It also helps that we often catch beautiful sunsets every evening.

We've also been doing a lot around our new house, and I can't wait to share some pictures of the transformations with you! Hint: a lot of "cowboy tan" gets covered with a lot of bright, beautiful white. :)

I have a new job lined up for the Spring (yay!). In the interim, I am trying to enjoy this alone time (not always easy for me) at home, and am learning to rest, wait and learn contentment in this new season. It's really been a beautiful thing, moving to a new place and knowing no one. Of course it's a little scary, but beautiful nonetheless.

Scout is already a PRO at the whole restful contentment thing, so maybe she can teach me a thing or two.
