My Favorite Green Smoothie.


While it may look like swamp water :), this is my all-time favorite smoothie. 



Many of the "green smoothie recipes" you may find online require a lot of whackadoodle ingredients. Or, call for celery. No. Just no. Andrew and I discovered this recipe three years ago while completing a "clean eating challenge" and have been using it ever since.

This is my favorite smoothie because it's SIMPLE! Plus, it's TASTY (seriously. no grass flavor or after taste) and provides whole-food nutrition in a nice little glass.

These are the times I may elect to make and devour this smoothie:

For breakfast
As a mid-morning snack
At lunch
For lunch if its a busy day
After a workout
To curb mid-afternoon snack attack
For after-dinner dessert (instead of my all-time favorite: ice cream)

I'm just saying, this thing is delicious. And here it is:

1 cup milk of choice
we use plain almond
1 banana
does not have to be frozen
1 tablespoon nut butter of choice 
we typically use natural peanut
1 cup greens of choice 
we use fresh kale cut from the stem because it's the cheapest
if you're timid, start out with spinach and just do a half-cup
if it's your first time eating kale, use an even smaller amount
 you'll figure out why I suggest that afterward :)
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
we use Juice Plus complete (click on link to see more)
it's the best-tasting and is ALL natural and inexpensive!
Ice Cubes
Optional add-ins: ground flaxseed, chia seeds, coconut oil

Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth
